Winemaker's Choice Liebfraumilch Review
Posted on November 07, 2025
The Winemaker's Choice Liebfraumilch costs £3.73 from ASDA. It comes with around 75cl of white wine. It's surprisingly cheap and it has a small amount of carbonation to it. The aroma of the Liebfraumilch doesn't really travel far and is quite contained to only coming out close near the wine. When you do smell it; it is slightly fruity and has a sweet yet there's a small amount of tannin in the scent. The colour of the wine itself is a very pale white mostly being translucent.
Taste and Texture
The wine is definitely not heavy on tannins at all, I mean it's literally a white wine. The first sip; I found a very sweet, fruity and somewhat floral taste to it; the floral note came last and is most prominent in the aftertaste. It is not complex; I do not find any flavours after that but it is a Liebfraumilch which is supposed to be an inexpensive semi-sweet German white wine.
I find that this is the best when chilled as it feels between a mix of wine and a relatively flat fizzy drink. If you prefer dry wines; then this is not for you. It is incredibly sweet for a wine and in this turn serves as a great dessert wine.
I find that the aftertaste does not linger much, it really only stays for around ten to twenty seconds and subsides/weakens quite fast. Also, as this is a cheap wine; it contains sulphites. If you're avoiding those then this wine, obviously, is not for you.
Conclusion
For the price, I found that the Winemaker's Choice Liebfraumilch is a cheap and an honestly a sweet, delicious and approachable white wine without any issues. It's light, has a slight fizz to it and is best enjoyed well chilled. Though, since it's a Liebfraumilch; it will not have much depth or complexity to it. It does, however, have soft floral notes and a quick clean finish that I find makes it a pleasant casual drink or dessert wine. You're not getting luxury with this price but you get a good value cheap wine that doesn't really offend.
