Swizzels Refreshers Lemon Review

The Swizzels Refreshers Lemon cost £1.98 usually in the Swizzels Variety packs that usually come with around 300+ grams of Swizzels sweets. I find that the strength of these is much weaker than I had remembered but they still have an amazing chew to them though they are a bit hard.

Taste and Texture

Wow, these are super chewy which makes it an instant joy to eat as it offers that satisfying mouthfeel as you chew it and it melts. Though I don't find it as chewy as I remember as the more you get into it; the more hard parts there are in the chew bar. It is very tough the closer to the centre which is a problem.

The sherbet centre is not as big as I would've liked and it does just get overpowered by the chewy covering. However, I did find that with what sherbet there was in the bar it ironically gave the bar a small bit of crunchiness. Though, it was a short-lived crunch.

These will stick to your teeth for quite a while so that's one downside to these. The flavour however is just sweet and nothing else to it apart from a tanginess that doesn't last long. I find this is due to the lack of sherbet in the chew bar… I remember these being stronger as a child but that might just be nostalgia.

Conclusion

Overall, I found that the Swizzels Refreshers Lemon Bar is still a nostalgic bar though it doesn't feel as great as it used to. It's not that strong as it was but it still has the amazing chew to it and the sherbet centre adds a nice touch even if its smaller and less fizzy than I had expected. The chew does have a bit of firmness for comfort at times while the tangy sweetness does remain enjoyable, I find that it fades quickly and leaves mostly a sugary aftertaste.
