Yummy’s Butter Scotch Hard Candy Review

The Yummy's Butter Scotch Hard Candy costs £2.50 for around 200g of them and is generally pricey for what you get. You get a low-quality butter scotch candy that just has the aftertaste of subtle vomit in the mouth and doesn't really have much flavour in it at all.

Taste and Texture

Wow, when I open the bag which holds all the individual wrappers; the smell comes out. That's how I thought that these were going to be good. The aroma just permeates out of the pack; it's buttery sweet and is just the signature smell of a butter scotch! However, after opening the individual wrapper; it doesn't look like what is presented.

I found these to taste a lot different than they smell. There's a slight artificial taste to them as though the vanilla they used in this was artificial rather than natural. I also found that the butter flavour in them is extremely weaker than I had expected. It generally is a massive let down especially as they smelt so good and their previous candy I reviewed was amazing. I also found a slightly sickly taste to these as it was halfway melted in my mouth. Not very good.

It's not like the Werthers Butter Scotch candies at all and it just tastes weaker and has the horrible sickly vomit taste to it that just lingers in the aftertaste. I also didn't find it that creamy at all either and well; I cannot recommend these at all. Furthermore, the fact that the nutritional information mentions 0g fat but has butter and hydrogenated vegetable oil in the ingredients is suspicious. It leads me on to think that the ingredients may be misleading (and potentially have other artificial ingredients or unlisted ingredients) and the nutritional information supplied on the back of the product is entirely false.

Ingredients: Sugar, Glucose, Butter, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (Palm), Milk Powder, Salt, Natural Food Colorant (Caramel E150d, Beta Carotene E160a), Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin E322), Milk Powder, Salt, Flavourings (Butter, Caramel, Vanilla).

Nutritional Information per 100g: 401 calories, 0g fat (0g saturates), 98g carbohydrates (43g sugars), 0g protein, 0.05g salt.

Conclusion

I wouldn't recommend this at all. First; the ingredients and nutritional information feel absolutely fake. It wouldn't surprise me if there's extra additives, they haven't mentioned given they put '0g fat' for a butter scotch candy. Furthermore, the taste and texture are just awful and is just an example of a bad quality butter scotch candy. It tastes bad; it misleads and it is not something you should buy.
