Balisto Milk Almonds & Honey Bars Review

The Balisto Milk Almonds & Honey Bars cost £3.95 for around 10 of them. They are small which does make them not feel worth it but I did find them enjoyable nonetheless. They have an extremely moreish taste to them which makes it hard to not eat more than one at once and are not overly sweet either!

Taste and Texture

There is a very distinct almond smell when you open the pack which smells both sweet and delicious already. The texture when you feel it on the outside, I notice, is slightly waxy and soft but doesn't melt. I notice that it has a nice crunch when you first bite into it which then shifts to a very subtle almond flavour then to a sweet honey profile. It's nice, it's subtle and moreish at the same time. Very delicious.

Separating the cream layer on the inside; it tastes exactly like what I mentioned prior. The biscuit layer is quite basic but it works for the moreish quality of the bar. The chocolate on the outside is less noticeable but does add a small cocoa element to it. I do like the texture of the cream inside; it's not gooey but it's more like a solid which you can bite into with a bit of resistance but not hard. It results in a very pleasant and satisfying mouthfeel. It's quite hard not to go for more of these as they're very easy to eat in succession! Even though it is wholegrain, I did not find these heavy at all.

Conclusion

Overall, I found that the Balisto Milk Almonds & Honey Bars have an amazing balance between sweet, crunchy and creamy. Though their small size makes them feel expensive for what you get; the flavour and texture make up for that. They are light, satisfying and addictive to eat. I found that the combination of honey, almond and chocolate is greatly balanced without being too sweet. The wholegrain base also helps to keep them from feeling too heavy.
