Sainsburys Nutty Nougat Chocolate Bars Review

Posted on September 30, 2025

The Sainsbury's Nutty Nougat Chocolate Bars costs £1.45 and comes with around 5 bars as of writing. They are way too sweet than they have to be and the Aldi and Lidl versions of the bar are generally much better. There is a lack of peanut in these too along with being quite salty too.

Taste and Texture

These nougat chocolate bars are super small and it just doesn't seem value especially for the price they are. There's no point in buying these when Lidl and Aldi do much bigger versions for almost the same or even less than the price of this. There's generally not enough peanut in these bars that I had been hoping for. The bars are also way sweeter than expected and it's just very cloying.

The crunch in this isn't great due to the fact of there being less peanuts in this compared to its competitors. The caramel inside of these bars are just saltier than they should be which makes it a bit drying to eat. The taste is, in fact, good but it's just difficult to taste the actual peanuts when it's overshadowed by the sweetness and saltiness.

The chewiness of the nougat chocolate bar, I found, is generally nice though for texture. Though you just have to imagine the taste away if you just want to enjoy the chewiness and not the extremely sweet flavour.

Ingredients and Nutritional Information

Ingredients: Milk Chocolate (35%) (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Whole Cows' Milk Powder, Cocoa Mass, Lactose (Cow's Milk), Sweet Whey Powder (Cow's Milk), Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin, Salt, Vanilla Extract), Peanuts (24%), Glucose Syrup, Sugar, Palm Fat, Skimmed Condensed Cows' Milk, Humectant: Sorbitol Syrup, Barley Malt Extract, Salt, Flavouring (Peanut), Dried Egg White, Hydrolysed Milk Protein (Cows' Milk).

Nutritional Information per bar (36g): 171 calories, 9g fat (3.5g saturates), 19.2g carbohydrates (16.6g sugars), 0.3g fibre, 3.2g protein, 0.3g salt.

Conclusion

I found these very disappointing. The chewiness of these nougat bars is enjoyable but the overall experience is just bad. It's let down by the excessive sweetness, the lack of peanuts and an overly salty caramel that makes the bar unbalanced. It's just too expensive for bars of this quality and I would suggest you to get the ones at Lidl or Aldi instead.
