Lidl Snack Day Sizzling King Prawn Ridge Cut Review

The Lidl Snack Day Sizzling King Prawn Ridge Cut costs £1.35 a pack of six. They're not good at all and taste bad. It's less prawn and more bacon and mayonnaise. Very misleading. I also dislike how there's barely any seasoning on any of the crisps in there too. Just bad.

Taste and Texture

Upon opening the pack; I am not greeted with a prawn smell but rather a smell of fried potato. That is instantly disappointing as it shows me that the seasoning is going to be quite minimal. After testing a few of the first crisps I find that there's just no taste; these ones where more yellow. In the pack there's some that have a more orange tint which shows they have seasoning.

The orange ones have a more 'bacony' taste to them with a mayonnaise-like aftertaste rather than tasting anything like prawn. It's unfortunate as my favourite flavour of crisps is prawn and this is an insult. It just doesn't have any taste to the seasoning either when you start to eat more of them; the potato just overpowers the weak awful seasoning.

The texture of the crisps is okay; they're crunchy, snappy and the ridge cut makes it crispier than it would have been. But this does not at all save it from the bad taste, lack of seasoning and generally awful quality. I absolutely despise these.

Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oils in Varying Proportions (Rapeseed, Sunflower), Sizzling Prawn Flavour Seasoning (Maltodextrin, Sugar, Acidity Regulator: Sodium Diacetate; Salt, Acid: Citric Acid; Yeast Extract, Flavouring, Colour: Paprika Extract).

Nutritional Information per bag (30g): 153 calories, 8.8g fat (0.7g saturates), 16.0g carbohydrates (0.8g sugars), 1.7g fibre, 1.7g protein, 0.33g salt.

Conclusion

These are Lidl's worst crisps. It just has a lack of flavour and the name is entirely misleading. It just feels like a waste of money and you're buying fried potato. Instead of it being a rich, tangy prawn taste it just tastes like bacon and mayonnaise. It has no resemblance to the flavour advertised. While the texture and crunch are great; it does nothing to redeem the absence of seasoning and the bland experience. Awful, just awful these are.
