Lidl Snack Day Cheddar and Onion Ridge Cut Crisps Review

Posted on September 12, 2025

The Lidl Snack Day Cheddar and Onion Ridge Cut Crisps costs £1.35 for a pack of six crisps. They are generally okay if you're looking for something to eat but they have the same issue that plagues the rest of Lidl's snacks like uneven seasoning.

Taste and Texture

On opening the pack; the smell of the crisps is quite faint which is telling of what I am about to taste. Some of these crisps don't have any seasoning and some of them do. This is a common Lidl symptom of their snack lines and it really needs to be fixed as I imagine these wouldn't be so bad.

On the crisps that do have enough seasoning it has a generic cheesy taste to it rather than a strong cheddar with a hint of sharpness. Texture-wise these are really great on that front! I find that they have a crunchier and thicker base compared to other crisps.

The saltiness is quite high in these though and when there's a lot of seasoning a on crisp it just gets overwhelming. Unfortunately, I would say these are perfect if only the seasoning was spread evenly rather than being overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.

Ingredients and Nutritional Information

Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oils in Varying Proportions (Rapeseed, Sunflower), Cheese and Onion Flavour Seasoning (Onion Powder, Salt, Cheese Powder (milk), Lactose (Milk), Whey Powder (Milk), Yeast Extract, Sugar, Garlic Powder, Acid: Citric Acid; Flavouring, Herb).

Nutritional Information per bag (30g): 151 calories, 8.6g fat (0.8g saturates), 15.6g carbohydrates (0.5g sugars), 1.6g fibre, 2.1g protein, 0.37g salt.

Conclusion

The Lidl Snack Day Cheddar and Onion Ridge Cut Crisps are a fairly budget friendly option but they are not really great at all. The uneven distribution of the seasoning is the biggest weakness which left some crisps bland and some overwhelmingly salty. When the flavour does land it just tastes like generic cheese rather than a cheddar and onion blend.
