Dr Meinaier Skin Renewing Retinol Serum Review
Posted on September 07, 2025
The Dr Meinaier Skin Renewing Retinol Serum costs ₦4,000. It appears to be a knock-off product of the CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum but works in a similar way and is way cheaper.
While doing this review, I have noticed that this serum doesn't irritate the face at all. It also absorbs into the skin quite quickly which is nice. The serum itself does not leave a sticky residue on the face at all either which helps when applying either makeup or other skincare products onto the face afterward. I have supplied my results for each two days below for quick and easy reading.
Ingredients: Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Silk, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Carbomer, Retinol, Glutathione, Panthenol, Alpha-Arbutin, Methylparaben, Triethanolamine, Ascorbic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil.
Day 1-2
On these two days, I have a slight irritation rash from the previous skincare product I was using. So, this serum will be put to the test to that rash to see if it helps to recover my skin. I have quite a bit of texture on my face due to old acne scars and hopefully the product will help with that too.
What I first noticed with the retinol serum is that it helped make my face feel slightly firmer after some time of it being on my face. Though, after this day, I do notice that an acne spot has appeared on the left part of my face which is unfortunate and may be caused by the product.
Day 3-4
On these two days I noticed that the acne spot has mostly gone away and my face got a bit clearer. However, it is becoming evident that this product is not the best to use on acne as I realised that when waking up after using this product it makes your face feel very greasy.
The irritation on my face has mostly cleared up by now though and it has become clear that this product doesn't irritate at all and actually reduces it.
Day 5-6
On these two days I noticed a big pimple on the right part of my face near my nose. It's big enough that it's very noticeable and annoying. The product has basically done nothing to reduce or get rid of acne and perhaps might have encouraged new growth due to the greasy residue after using it for more than 8 hours.
It's definitely not made for acne as is evident here. But it also isn't aggressively causing new growths as it is only a single pimple that had appeared. It is probably best to pair this with a toner that removes or reduces acne on the face.
Day 7 (Final Day)
On the final day, after barely any improvements on my face. I can generally say that this product is good in removing irritation but is downright awful in reducing or removing acne. My face doesn't feel any smoother after using it, making it feel like its intended effects of renewing the skin don't work. The firming of the skin by the product feels temporary as your skin is back to what it was after you wake up before needing to apply it again after washing the face.
Overall, I can't really recommend it but it's good nonetheless to add to the regimen due to the anti-irritation it has.
