:Diablo No Added Sugar Choco Covered Cream Cookies Review

The :Diablo No Added Sugar Choco Covered Cream Cookies costs £2.30 for a pack of four packs of two individually wrapped maltitol sweetened chocolate coated cookies. They're really not great as the flavour is masked by the artificial sweetener taste.

Taste and Texture

The texture on the outside of the cookie is really waxy and it feels like the chocolate is going to melt but it doesn't. When you bite inside; it's got that cooling taste that artificial sweeteners usually have. Then you get hit with the driest biscuit ever while the cream does help to make it feel slightly moist; it just doesn't help. The biscuit base has a gritty texture to it and feels like you're processing sand in your mouth.

I really can't taste the chocolate that much as you taste more of the waxy texture rather than the chocolate. The biscuit is quite heavy and the vanilla flavouring in the cream is also quite invisible too. It just tastes like artificial sweetener mixed with a heavy flour biscuit base. Not really enjoyable at all.

Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sweetener Maltitol, Vegetable Palm Fat, Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder 6%, Whey Powder (Milk), Corn Starch, Cocoa Mass, Raising Agents: Ammonium Bicarbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate, Salt, Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin, Vanilla Flavour.

Nutritional Information per 34g: 135 calories, 8.8g fat (4.8g saturates), 17.3g carbohydrates (1.4g sugar) (10.5g maltitol), 0.3g fibre, 1.4g protein, 0.2g salt.

Note: As with other :Diablo sugar free products, this product does contain maltitol which does cause laxative and digestive issues. It also contains wheat flour which is still a carbohydrate and might spike blood sugar.

Conclusion

Overall, this is just something that I really cannot recommend. It just falls terribly short on flavour and texture. While it does seem appealing due to the low sugar, it just has the overwhelming taste of the artificial sweeteners; the chocolate is waxy and cheap tasting and the biscuit is gritty and dry. It's not nice at all.
