ASDA Beef & Onion Flavour Crisps Review

Posted on September 24, 2025

The ASDA Beef & Onion Flavour Crisps costs £3.60 with the large Meaty Variety pack that ASDA does with the 24 packs. These are really delicious; they have an amazing crunch and crispiness to them and the quality is consistent and even in the bag. Though the onion flavour is quite invisible as it is beef dominated.

Taste and Texture

Opening the pack gives a burst of the beefy and umami-rich aroma. It has a slight onion tinge to it at its end note which suggests it is going to be a 'beefier' flavour than onion. After I started eating them, I noticed the beefy flavour first which is slightly smoky then it is complemented by a somewhat sweet but invisible onion flavour.

The crisps are mostly evenly coated so there's no worry for getting some that have nothing and others with too much seasoning. That's the greatest part of ASDA's Meaty Variety pack as I've found all of them were consistent in quality. The seasoning is sufficiently good though it is definitely not the strongest beef flavour out there but I like it nonetheless. It's more like beef gravy: very meaty; most probably due to the yeast extract.

They don't have a greasy texture to them when you start taking them out of the pack which makes them less messy and more enjoyable to eat. They have a nice snap to them and are super thin so you'll enjoy the crispiness and they are crunchy too. The crisps are sufficiently sized too; most of them are even and are not too small or too big.

Ingredients and Nutritional Information

Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oils in Varying Proportions [Rapeseed, Sunflower], Beef and Onion Flavour Seasoning [Rice Flour, Onion Powder, Yeast Extract Powder, Salt, Sugar, Dextrose, Caramel Syrup, Flavouring, Citric Acid, Colour (Paprika Extract)].

Nutritional Information per bag (25g): 133 calories, 8.1g fat (0.7g saturates), 13g carbohydrates (less than 0.5g sugars), 1.0g fibre, 1.5g protein, 0.30g salt.

Conclusion

These punch much more above their price; they are thin, clean and crunchy while being evenly seasoned and you won't get as much of a greasy finger when you eat this as other budget multipacks usually do. The flavour is more beef-first, a bit like beef gravy, rather than onion which gives a nice umami profile but this knocks a point down due to the lack of onion despite the title.
