Aldi No Pork Streaky Bacon Rashers Review

Posted on September 15, 2025

The Aldi No Pork Streaky Bacon Rashers cost £2.49 and you get around 10 plant-based bacon rashers. They're not really the best at all and they have a slightly artificial taste to them along with a heavy salt content. The texture is also absolutely awful as its dry and there's no fat to it at all.

Taste and Texture

It really does not taste like bacon at all. It's got quite an artificial flavour to it that you'd find in smoky bacon crisps. The taste also really doesn't linger long and it's gone after a few seconds of eating the bacon. The texture is quite abominable. It does hold well in the pan while you're frying it but its just like luncheon meat. There's no chewiness that you'd find in bacon and the 'fat' part crisps up less like bacon would but more like eating crisps. There's no juiciness to these and it's just horrendously dry.

It just lacks the fattiness or rubberiness of British (not American) bacon that makes it so satisfying to eat. It's like eating card rather than an actual bacon alternative.

Conclusion

Overall, the Aldi No Pork Streaky Bacon Rashers are a pretty disappointing plant-based bacon alternative. They're affordable and look quite convincing from the first view of the packet; the eating experience is just terrible. It has an overly artificial taste while being excessively salty and bone dry. It is nothing close in texture to real bacon; even if it had the same taste, had the texture been close enough I wouldn't be so disappointed. They might work as a filler in a sandwich but otherwise they're something you need to avoid.
