Aldi Gianni's Soft Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream Review
Posted on September 05, 2025
The Aldi Gianni's Soft Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream (2 Litres) costs £1.75 and is an okay ice cream for the price but don't expect quality. It melts quite miserably fast and does have a bit of resistance when trying to scoop it out contrary to its name. Though it does have richness and creaminess to it; the vanilla flavouring is weak.
Taste and Texture
I wouldn't really call this a soft scoop ice cream. It had quite a bit of resistance when I was scooping it out into the bowl.
The ice cream melts very fast when its served so it's best eaten quickly. Though it's evident that it uses cheaper oils due to this as had it been more milk based as it has emulsifiers added to it to stop it from melting as fast. But it melts fast nonetheless which is disappointing and does show the quality.
Nonetheless, the ice cream is super creamy in texture and quite rich. It's very delectable when eating on its own or even paired with fruit. It's not too sweet and has just the right amount of sweetness. However, the vanilla flavour in this is quite sparse. I buy vanilla a couple times a year to flavour sugar and it definitely does not taste like that here. It tastes like an extremely weakened version of vanilla.
Though it is a cheap ice cream so it's to be expected that they would not be using much vanilla.

Conclusion
Overall, I would say that the Aldi Gianni's Soft Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream is affordable but not great in quality. It melts fast, made from more cheaper oils instead of cream which makes it feel like a budget filler ice cream. The creaminess and richness are nice despite it being mostly from the filler ingredients and it's great when paired with fruit for a nice quick dessert. Nonetheless, it's okay but not great.
