Aldi Ashfields Irish Style Pork Sausages Review
Posted on September 07, 2025
The Aldi Ashfields Irish Style Pork Sausages costs £1.35 for around 8 sausages. They have around 42% pork inside of them and are really only good if you're shopping in Aldi and looking to cut costs for something dry, has a thick casing and isn't enjoyable at all.
Taste and Texture
I don't understand how these can be worse than the Lidl Richmond's Pork Sausages. They lack any moisture on the inside and are super dry once cooked while the casing of the sausages is much stronger than Lidl's version. It doesn't give a great texture as a result when you're eating them as they are much chewier.
You also only get 8 sausages unlike the 10 from Lidl's version so it's instantly less value for money when you compare it to its direct competitor. The black pepper in these is also not as noticeable either. It just fades into obscurity after biting into the sausage. These are genuinely the worst quality sausages I've had.
There is only 42% pork in these; just enough to be legally called 'sausages'. The rest of the ingredients are basically just filler ingredients which leads to these having an inferior quality to them.

Nutritional Information per sausage (44g): 90 calories, 4.6g fat (1.7g saturates), 7.9g carbohydrates (0.2g sugars), 0.8g fibre, 3.8g protein, 0.67g salt.
Conclusion
Overall, the Aldi Ashfields Irish Style Pork Sausages are awful, even for a budget option. With only 42% pork content, the rest made up of fillers and additives, the result is a sausage that is dry, chewy and lacks any flavour to it at all. The tougher casing makes the texture quite unpleasant while the black pepper is barely even noticeable.
Compared to Lidl's Richmond sausages; these are just worse in both value for money and quality.
