Lidl Simply Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake Review

The Simply Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake by Lidl is a budget friendly dessert (it's just £0.85!) and thus looks like a bargain. But unfortunately, the low price really doesn't translate into a great experience especially as it is a soggy cheesecake with the strawberry swirl destroying the good parts of the filling.

Taste and Texture

The cheesecake filling is quite creamy and rich but I don't like the consistency at all. The taste of it is not bad and is quite nice; with a right amount of sweetness. It's just not thick enough and it just runs a bit. It's too thin. Furthermore, the strawberry swirl on top, I find that way too sweet that it ruins the cheesecake for me. I can't taste the strawberry. I can just taste sugar and that's just an awful taste.

The biscuit base is a bit disappointing too. It falls apart easily and feels like a 'Nature's Valley' bar. It just gets everywhere and doesn't have any structure. Some parts of it are moist and there's no crunch or satisfaction from it.

Nutritional Information per serving (75g): 242 calories, 11.2g fat (3.9g saturates), 31.3g carbohydrates (16.9g sugars), less than 0.5g fibre, 3.9g protein, 0.15g salt.

Conclusion

While, the Lidl Simply Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake is a very affordable cheesecake with a creamy flavour. The filling is quite thin and runny and the strawberry swirl was way too sweet which just overpowered the entire flavour profile of the cheesecake. I cannot recommend this cheesecake and I would if it didn't have a disgusting strawberry ripple.
